Hero's come in many shapes and sizes. Some are hero's just by being at the wrong place at the right time. No one would argue that those who were killed, injured or fought at the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor are hero's, or that those wounded there did not deserve to receive the Purple Heart Medal.
Fast forward to today and the surprise attack at Fort Hood by a crazed Muslim Terrorist. Those killed and wounded are hero's in the war against terror just as if they were killed or wounded at Pear Harbor, D-Day Landing or Afghanistan.
Because those in congress will not call the shooter at Ft. Hood who shouted "Allah Akbar" as he slaughtered a terrorist but a deranged killer, out of political correctness and fear of offending Muslim's. These brave soldiers will not be awarded Purple Hearts.
The attacks that have put us at war on terrorism were conducted by Muslims!!! Not Nazi's, not Jews, and not Christians but Muslims. Grow some balls congress and join the war and let these American Hero's have their medal.

Paradise in the Pacific - Hawaii. How I wish we could spend all our retirement years there; running barefoot in the sand, soakin up the sun and drinking tiney bubbles. I must quite or I will remember that Uncle Sam still owe's me an enlistment tour there for over thirty some years --- ahhh life is good!

In the Caribbean where the sun shines daily on the mountain tops. Where the people are simple and pleasant for the most part. Where chickens wander in the streets. Where tourists look like vacationers and where Christmas trees are decorated year round.

Friday Quote

Unfortunately, we are too inclined to talk of man as it would be desirable for him to be rather than he really is. True education can proceed only from naked reality, not from any ideal illusion about man, however attractive.

Bill Clinton's saxophone on the Holland American ship Oosterdamn in route to Hawaii. Wow!!! No matter where you go or what you do you can't get away from them. No wonder politicians think they are more than public servants.

The Thorncrown Chapel at Eureka Springs, what a lovely peaceful place. One of my favorite places to visit, sit, meditate, pray or just hold my wife's hand.

Disney On Ice - what a marvelous diversion that was on last year's spring visit by our daughter and grand-daughter. Never mind it cost too much the look on the child's face was worth every penny, even the over priced snow cone which she would not share with me.
It got me thinking (I know some think that is rare and very dangerous but I do it anyway) I have a flag rolled up and standing against the wall in my man hole. I proudly display it on my front porch on appropriate holidays. I recently started as part of my morning devotional facing that flag, placing my hand over my heart and repeating the words "I pledge allegiance to the FLAG of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands. One nation, under GOD, indivisible with liberty and justice for all."
I was just wondering, "Does anyone know where that REPUBLIC went?"
