Where has my country gone? Every thing is motivated by money and what is best for me. Last night we had our H.O.Assoc. meeting. We budgeted to mow lots unoccupied because the developers who owned them won't, our only other recourse is to wait till the grass is knee high then call the city, who then calls the developer. If it isn't then mowed the city mows it and then bills the developer twice what would be required but won't allow us to bill the developer if we want to keep it neat and rodent free. The city put in the drainage and admits it was done wrong but since people are living here now it is our responsibility to fix it at our own expense. Federal, state or local they are looking out for number one and it isn't the tax payer they see as number one but their own welfare, by golly we are becoming a welfare nation, see to my own welfare and be damned with the rest.

This past week was marked by a visit from our daughter and grand child. We had a wonderful time with them but on their last day with us we were going through old pictures with our daughter making copies of old friends and family she did not have.
Several times she would ask me "who is this" as we browsed the old memories. Most I could answer with a little story like, "that's John Perry I served with him in Vietnam." To many who were so close, shared so much and as life quickly passed by were lost in the business of growing old. As I looked at each one I wondered, where are they now, what have they done with their lives and if they often wonder too. Alas one of the great gifts of God is that one day we will all meet again and spend eternity knowing them as they truly are and sharing self as we truly are.

I don't know if I practiced more than anybody, but I sure practiced enough. I still wondered if somebody - somewhere - was practicing more than me.
Larry Bird
I wonder if that could have had something to do with his success and attitude.

It is the little moments that mean the most. Yesterday as the sun had set I was in the sun room enjoying my favorite time of the day when my grand child climbed on my lap.
What you doing Grandpa? Her favorite question for me.
I'm watching to catch my first sight of a lightning bug.
Whats a lightning bug Grandpa?
It is a bug that flies at night and his tail lights up.
That's not a lightning bug Grandpa it is a fire fly.
I never saw a bug with its tail on fire it lights up, it's a lightning bug.
It's a fire fly Grandpa.
Its a bug and its tail lights up, it's a lightning bug.
It's a fire fly Grandpa.
Well I say it's a lightning bug.
You're silly Grandpa.
I may be silly but I love these little arguments.

Sorry for not being very faithful with my entry's the past few days, but last week was hectic. We had our kitchen counter tops and bar replaced with granite. Then we had to have a plumber come and hook up the plumbing. This week our granddaughter and daughter are in for a visit so don't know how often I will be on - don't get to enjoy the kiddo as much as I would like. All I would do if I were on would be ranting about taxes, government spending or political lies and they seem to be able to do that just fine without my commentary.

Looking into the eye of the beast. Seems they both aren't to sure of what they see as both have learned that things aren't always what they appear to be.
Take for instance the phrase, "Change we can believe in." It seems good but change from the United States of America (U.S.A.) to the United Socialist State of America (U.S.S.A). Now that's not change I can believe in and now news of a national value added sales tax to advance our welfare state. When is someone going to give us a break?

Spring has officially arrived in Little Rock. This weekend marked the arrival of our first humming bird. Back from the Yucatan our little guest was immediately greeted with the filling of our feeders in anticipation of the swarms that hopefully will follow.
